As a publicity shot is revealed for the Sex and The City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, I thought it was time to have a flashback through the original Carrie Bradshaws wardrobe.

I have been a massive Sex and The City fan for years. I constantly watch re-runs, and I find the older the episode the better the outfits. For my generation, I think Carrie was a massive style influence. She showed her audience that it was OK to put on a ridiculous get-up as long as you were confident enough to strut down the street in it. Carrie made it OK for an adult to go outdoors in a tutu, to own a million pairs of wild pretty shoes and very rarely wear the same pair twice, and Carrie taught us that it was healthy to sit on the floor of your wardrobe full the the brim of clothes and exclaim that you have nothing to wear.

A tear still comes to my eye every time I watch that scene when Big stands Carrie up at their wedding, especially when Charlotte screams 'NO' at Big. The bridesmaids Zac Posen dresses are all exquisite...
